Jamaica Blue Mountain: Heritage
It was 1885 when Cecil Augustus Munn planted the fmaily’s first coffee plant on Strawberry Hill, and their production of one of the world’s finest coffees continues to this day. Cecil’s son Victor continued the family’s work. His nephew Keble became Jamaica’s first certified cup tester and a minister of agriculture.
The Blue Mountain Coffee Inc grows some of the finest quality coffee in the world. This is largely because its supply comes from incredibly small local farms which maintain the company’s highest standards. Maintaining these high standards results in a very limited availability compared to other coffees.
To this day, only coffee grown in this precise geographic location can be classed as 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain, with a certificate of origin sent with each barrel.
The Wallenford Estate
The Blue Mountain region spans across four main parishes; St. Andrews, Portland, St. Mary and St. Thomas. Of those four, the Wallenford estate occupies 5,000 acres across St. Andrews in the south, and Portland in the North.
Jamaica Blue Mountain: About The Coffee
The volcanic soil, paired with the local misty, wet and mild climate of the Blue Mountain region, allows for the coffee fruit to reach ripeness slowly. This slow maturation allows for hte development of comples acidities and nuanced sweet compounds. The washed process removes the change of any fruit fermentation which would add an arguably unnecessary complexity to an already magnificiently well-balanced bean.
80% of Blue Mountain coffee is exported to Japan. This scarcity, assurance of quality and promise of unique flavour, goes hand-in-hand with a premium price tag. Whilst it’s likely you won’t be drinking it on a daily basis, you’ll want to make sure you try it at least once.
brew method
We recommend taking a simple approach. The aromatic, herbal flavours are best preserved when brewed in a V60, or a cafetiere if you prefer a fuller-bodied brew.

I have bought this coffee on two occasion now from Adam & Russell. Both times from a food fair. I am now buying it a third online. I bought it the first time to see what the hype was about. I bought it the second time time because I love it so much and I have had to eat humble pie from my friends and the third and subsequent times because it is so good. It is the Cru of coffee’s. If you think it looks on the pricey side, when you taste it you will know why. Thank you boys for always stocking this when others are to afraid to be bold enough.
