CECANOR: About The Cooperative

The CECANOR Cooperative was the first of the ‘Café Femenino’ concepts in the world. This organisation aim to readdress the gender imbalance in the coffee industry. Whilst women have always been an integral part of the coffee trade, they have typically been omitted from economic roles or from financially benefiting from the industry they helped to create.

“We have used the money we receieved from the Café Femenino premium to invest in improving our homes, providing education for our daughters and improving the food that we feed our families”

The profits from this cooperative are invested into improved water storage for remote Andean communities, income diversification for coffee farmers and improving road access to mountainous coffee growing regions. Sustianability isn’t only measured by reliable crop yields, but fair price guarantees, infrastructure support and improved education. This prevents farmers from turning to growing commodity coffee (a much easier product to produce) and incentivises them to keep higher quality coffee in existence.

Peru Lambayeque: About The Coffee

The slow maturation of the coffee fruit allows for the development of a bright acidity. Berry and stone fruit flavours are backed up by a classic South American soft cocoa bitterness to finish. Enjoy this coffee in whatever way you usually brew, but expect magnificent results when enjoyed as an espresso.

Good enough quality, however no the best…
I struggled to pick any of the suggested taste notes, so a bit of disappointment.

    Hi,
I came in yesterday and bought a 1kg bag of the new Peru coffee that replaced the San Martin G1. They guy who spoke to and who served me (sorry don’t know his name) said for me to email in with my first impressions. I had my first cup this afternoon and I am very impressed. It’s extremely smooth, which I love and tbh I’d say it’s possibly my favourite single plantation of yours that I’ve had (I’ve tried pretty much all of them now).

Thanks for the recommendation and I’ll definitely be buying more of it soon.
