Rwanda Kinini Comparison Bundle
Interested to see how process alone can influence the profile of a coffee?
We’ve introduced a Washed lot from the very same farm as our award winning Rwanda Kinini Natural. The only difference between these two coffees is how and where they are processed.
The cherry used in the Rebero lot is separated off from trees on the North facing slopes of the farm. It is then delivered to the washing station by 4pm the same day.
What to expect:
Rwanda Kinini Natural: Low acidity, with a jammy, summer fruit sweetness. We find Kinini Natural is a complex cup with a crossover of sweetness and acidity.
Rwanda Kinini Washed: Bright, clean and zesty. A linear transition between acidity and sweetness, Rebero is a typical expression of a washed coffee.
In 2012 38 of the 252 hectares in the Northern Province of Rwanda were planted with Bourbon Mayaguez 139 seedlings (2000 – 2500 in each hectare). This totalled nearly half a million new trees. Access to supply of new trees and nurseries continues to grow.
This regeneration was led by Jacquie Turner and Malcolm Clear. Not just limited to new trees, new roads were built to improve access for the many farmers that have to deliver their days pickings to the washing station by 4pm in order to maintain quality.
