Farm Profile

La Finca La Loma is part of the Portilla’s Café group situated in the Nariño region of Colombia. The Portilla’s group have a passionate approach to coffee which transcends down to the workers at each farm.

The coffee cherries are picked selectively and visited every 8-10 day, this ensures all cherries are collected at an equal ripeness, hence the uniform colour of the coffee when it is roasted.

The high-quality coffee the farms offer is a result of the continued dedication that the farmers show in each step of the coffee process.

The Espinosa family have been operating the farm three generations now and their hard work and passion is evident in every cup of this single lot coffee.

Country Profile

Coffee from Colombia offers a variety of taste profiles from chocolate to sweet, fruit. Coffees that undergo the ‘washed’ process often have a higher acidity due to the fermentation which takes place over a 24-hour period.

This particular crop has a moderate acidity, potentially due to the higher altitude compared to other single plantation coffees.

Nariño has been regarded as a prestigious coffee growing region due to its high altitude and spectacular accompanying scenery.

Combining the high altitude and relatively low yield of Caturra varieties exiting Nariño, this coffee can be considered quite rare. Coffee from this region has been well sought after even among the more recognised high street coffee chains due to its consistent quality.

This is the second coffee Adams + Russell have roasted from the Nariño region and it certainly won’t be the last.
